Staying with the Blue Hairs

Dan's brother put us up at the Blue Ox RV park where we are partying it up with the blue hairs. Dan feels like a newborn. We'll be in Albany Oregon for another 2 weeks, but I think we're moving to a campground next week - it's a lot more scenic then an RV park.

Yummy!

Cooking in the little kitchen isn't so bad- so far I've managed to make salmon rice and asparagus, chicken noodle soup, and a lot of banana pancaks (for Dan). Pretty much whatever I made at home!

Oh and this is the best part - cleaning is done by vacuuming with a dust buster and mopping with a lysol wipe! I'm actually staying on top of the housecleaning.

can't post pics

i am having a hard time posting pictures so be sure to check out my facebook account for some scenic ones!

Hanging with Chris and Melissa (and Lily)

Sunday we left Carson City (after an uneventful night in the Carson City Walmart haha). By the way, what a beautiful Walmart Supercenter! NEVER thought I would say that but I mean it was clean, empty, big and had an awesome food selection. Ok moving on...
It was snowing but light, and we had to beat the Sunday night storm and get to Redding to seek shelter in Chris and Melissa's driveway.
We discovered a cool website - the CA DOT posts which highways are closed or require chains. We decided (wisely) to avoide the 80 which had high wind advisories for campers and trailers (that's us!), and some other road which needed chains. Which worked out really well because we took the 44 through the Lassen National Forest and what a beautiful drive that was. 10-15 foot high snowbanks on the road side, endless forest and snow covered meadows.... soooooo pretty. Not a soul in sight.

And when we arrived - Chris made us steaks for dinner. YUMMMMMMY. Thanks guys! Love you!

The visit went off without a hitch - until I accidentally let Melissa's dog Tess out while running to the RV. She wouldn't let me catch her - and it took Dan and Melissa about 15 minutes to realize what happened. But that time I had caught her 25 pound butt and was walking around carrying her, hoping I was headed towards Melissa's! Just when I was feeling desperate, the headlights showed up. Dang dog!

Snowstorm and Dan gets arrested (almost)

We stayed in Vegas for a few days visiting family while Dan worked on getting the motorhome geared up (which means he ordered a 42" flat screen for the living room - it's gaudy but I guess it will be fun to watch!).
My nephew Tony took me on a motorcycle ride through the moutains and lakes - sooo fun!

Saturday morning we decided to leave and headed for South Lake Tahoe - upon arriving my mother in law informed us that we were due for several feet of snow! We found a campground around 8pm and of course the water hookups were buried under several feet of snow. Around midnight we decided that rather then be caught in a storm with no running water (since our holding tank pump isn't working), we would head down to Carson City. So at midnight we hit the road down the mountain, driving down the windy road with snow... kind of scary.

Of course we got pulled over after about 2 minutes into it when Dan accidentally ran through the red light. But I talked us out of a ticket, only to find that Dan has a warrant for his arrest in Vegas from an unpaid ticket in 1998. Thank GOD we were about 50 feet from the state line - still in California! Otherwise this post would have a different ending.

Gearing up for the big day!

Well a few of you have asked me to blog or post updates on our tour - so I created this! While we technically left Friday, we are still in the process of going.
1) Friday night we FINALLY hit the road around 9:30pm and got about 2 houses away when the trailer hitch hit the road and dug in. We were stuck in the intersection. Got that figured out, and the brake lights stopped working on the trailer. So, unable to drive at night without lights, we spent the night 1 block away in front of Princess Del Cerro park. A nice start to the trip!
2) Spent Saturday in Lancaster where Dan dropped off some clothes and visited an old friend. The lights decided to work again, on their own. Weird.
3) Drove to Vegas on Sunday to stay at Dan's sisters house. We're going to leave the trailer here so we can tow the Escape. We'll be here a few days while Dan installs the In Motion Satellite (yes we want to be able to watch TV while we drive), fixes the water leak, hooks up the car hitch, and we organize our stuff.
Oh and a side note - Dan's sister buys special milk from Utah that is pastuerized at a lower temperature for her son who is allergic to milk. I let Levi have some last night and this morning and he didn't have a reaction! I am so excited that I can get milk for him! Maybe he'll grow now. Can't wait to get settled so I can start ordering it from Utah too. Haven't asked about the $$$ that is going to cost me yet... a little scared to know.
ok so that's it! I get a little free time now and again when Levi takes a nap. Like right now :)
