Staycation - Tourists at Home

This weekend we got to see San Diego through the eyes of a tourist. We're staying at Campland on the Bay - which is actually pretty cool! There must be a couple hundred RVs here. There are kids everywhere - at the pools, beach, game room, ice cream parlor, all over the roadways riding bikes and little kid vehicles. We're parked next to a nice couple here for the winter from Wyoming with there 2 and 3 year old kids. They're nice to Levi so that's fun.
Today Dan and I rode our bikes around Mission Bay and stopped at a park to let Levi play. It was fun to be a tourist! I have a new love for San Diego - I can see why people would love to vacation here. There's a lot to do, especially if you're a visitor. And you can't beat the weather. America's Finest City... could be!

the redwoods!

today has been all about the redwoods. got to hike around in them, get rained on, clopped through the mud. it's such a majestic experience words don't describe. but i'll try. wet moss drips in tandrils from the moist branches, looking up at 300 foot tall trees you see little rain drops coming down from somewhere unbelievably high, ferns cover the wet dirt everywhere. creeks run rampant, you can always here the water but can rarely see it for all the foilage.

on the road again!

yay we finally left oregon. it's so nice having dan on vacation, he is in the best mood and doesn't let me spoil it at all! :)

he drove us from albany oregon down to crescent city california today, and we are currently staying at the Redwood RV Resort. It's very pretty here, as far as rv resorts go. I am trying to remember as we plan our trip that our nights probabably won't be spent in the pretty national forest places i am accustomed to from camping and driving around a 4x4. most of those places can't fit a 38" rv and don't offer water and electric! but at least this is 1 campground that is pretty - i mean how can you find an ugly campground when driving on the 101 through the redwoods?

today was fun, as usual i took us on a detour that proved dramatic. had to see the jed smith national forest on the howell road which turned out to be an absolutely beautiful and quant tiny little dirt road with overhanging trees that threatened to rip off our satellite or a/c. so that didn't last long. my poor frustrated hubby had to unhook the car and maneuver the beast into a turn around that really wasn't meant for a big rv so we could get the heck out of dodge.

levi is learning to walk, almost, which might mean a little more exploring and fun for us. for now though it is lots of driving as we hurry up and get to san diego so we can rent our mission valley condo and then be off on our journey!

oh and here's a weird one - my 9 month old laptop had a hardrive crash last week. we decided to get a second computer while waiting to repair the first, and within 1 day my new hp laptop from costco was on the fritz. going to have to return this one too. is there something about motorhomes and laptops i should know about? are they too bumpy or something?
